1.
A journal entitled ‘Afkar-E-Nau’ was started in 1960 which continued
upto 1969. A special issue of the journal “Ghalib Number” was published
in 1969.
2. In 1969, on the occasion of the “Ghalib Centenery”
a seminar was held in which many eminent scholars and University teachers participated.
The papers read in the seminar were also published in a book form entitled “Ghalib
: Fikr-O-fan”.
3. A Seminar on Firaq Gorakhpuri was held in 1972 to
honour him on getting the Jinanpeeth Award.
4. Almost every year, and especially
on the occasion of Convocation, literary sitting and poetic symposia are arranged.

Prof. Mahmood Ilahi was chairman of U.P. Urdu Academy, Lucknow for three terms.
Prof. Ahmad Lari and Dr. Akhtar Bastvi has been member of the executive committee
of the Academy. At present Prof. Afghanullah Khan is a member of the executive
committee of the Academy.
6. Prof. Mahmood Ilahi, Dr. Salam Sandilvi, Prof.
Ahmad Lari, Dr. Akhtar Bastiv and Prof. Afghanullah Khan have got awards and prizes
from All India Meer Academy, Lucknow and U.P. Urdu Academy, Lucknow. Prof. Afghanullah
Khan has also received “Firaq Award” from International Urdu Conference,
New Delhi, Department of Information & Public Relations, Government of U.P.,
Lucknow and Jaimny Academy, Haryana.
