With the establishment of the University,
Post-graduate class was started in the Sanskrit & Prakrut Department. In the
first session seven students were in roll in 1st year. At present 250 students
have been studying at graduate level. Beside Sanskrit, Pali is also taught in
this department. In M.A. final from different optional under special studies,
of three optional-The Vedas, Grammar and Literature-are taught. Under this department
Diploma classes in Chinese, Tibbati languages were also taught but at present
these classes are suspended due to non-appointment of teachers.
The Headship
was graced by Dr. Virmani, Dr. Upadhyaya, Prof. Laxmi Narain Singh, Prof Chandra
Banergee, Prof. Hemchandra Joshi, Prof. Karunesh Shukla, Prof. Dasharath Dwivedi,
Prof. Umesh Chandra Pandey, Prof. Ram Nath Mishra, Prof. Banarsi Tripathi respectively.
At present Dr. Banarsi Tripathi, working as professor, Dr. Asahab Ali working
as professor and Head and Dr. Kapil Deo Shukla and Sridhar Mishra as Readers.
