The growing super market of Science and
Technology has been constantly encroaching upon the realm of (traditional) knowledge
and wisdom related to human existence and human values. It has reduced their significance
from human concern to technological concern, from human development to material
development, from peaceful coexistence to civil strife and war; and from knowledge
to information's-mixed with correct and incorrect appraisals. In this situation,
Political Science, like other social sciences, is a bare spectator of its declining
stage.
AGAINST THIS BACK DROP, THE DEPARTMENT PROPOSES THE FOLLOWING PLANS:
(i)
To introduce Political classics in teaching curriculum to develop insight for
the betterment,
(ii)To encourage healthy Political socialization process
through Seminars and other possible modes for developing Political culture conducive
to healthy Parliamentary democracy, and
(iii) To attempt to contribute
to the process of bridging the gap between tradition and modernity with an objective
to promote meaningfulness, significance and relevance of the subject.
Despite
resource crisis, endeavor to start with the available resources at the University
level, for example, Interdepartmental / interdisciplinary collaborations, extension
lectures, and other feasible modes, such as restoration of Diploma Courses in
Public Administration would also be made.
