MBA program was started in 1995 by the Department of Commerce. Action plan for ten years (1995 to 2005) had the following focus:-
To Develop infrastructure facilities.
To attain financial sustainability.
To help students in securing placements.
To create an awareness about managerial career and opportunities and
To evolve State of the Art pedagogical techniques for facilitating Pro-Active learning.
It is a matter of satisfaction that we have achieved above mentioned objectives to a large extent. The mile stones in the journey of the department are:-

Approval of MBA program by AICTE in 1999.

Creation of a separate department of Business Administration in the Faculty of Commerce in January 2001.

Inauguration of the magnificent building equipped with Computer Lab, Library and Conference Hall costing more than Rs. 1 crore by the Chief Minister of U.P. Sri Raj Nath Singh on Feb. 3, 2001.


SELF SUSTAINABILITY
The total expenditure (both recurring and non-recurring) met by its own resources generated by the department.
No grant from UGC, State Government or any financial support from University received so far.
Campus Placement Started in 2000- 65% - 70% students are placed through the efforts of Placement cell. Placement is 100%.
In order to create awareness about managerial career and opportunities the Department launched a series of Vision - Annual Trade Fair. A mega three day event in 2001.
Vision Annual Trade fair 2001 was inaugurated by Excellency Governor of U.P. Sri Vishnu Kant Shastri.
Vision Annual Trade Fair 2002 was inaugurated by Honorable Minister of Higher Education U.P. Sri Om Prakash Singh.
Vision Annual Trade Fair 2003 was inaugurated by Prof. Vachaspati Upadhyaya, Vice-Chancellor, Sanskrit University, New Delhi.
The whole event is concerned, Planned and executed by the students under of academic activities such as Debate, Quiz, Music Competition, Role Playing, Competitions were organized and students from Business schools participated 70 organizations put up their stalls in the trade fiar-2003.
Students participated in various competitive events organized by Business Schools and won prizes and medals in SMS, Varanasi, MMM Engineering College, Gorakhpur and Youth Festival.
Students regularly organize various activities in the department such as- group discussion, quiz, cultural activities.

Curriculum Up-gradation
The Department continuously upgrades its curriculum. The new course structure effective from 2005-2006 embodies the suggested curriculum by U.G.C.
Teaching Methodology
We believe in active learning system and participative teaching methodologies. With the class room teaching for imparting the theoretical and conceptual knowledge, the group learning through different techniques are also encouraged to enhance the various skills, abilities, capabilities in the communication, leadership, logical analysis etc. of the students to become capable of coping up with the challenges emerging out of the changing environment of industries and trade.

The methodology comprises-

Classroom Teaching, Case analysis, Role Plays, Group Discussion, Presentation, Industrial Visits, Situational Exercise, Market surveys, Trade Fairs, Management Games.

Workshop
Workshops are the regular features of the program. Experts from reputed academic institutions and industries are invited to conduct the workshop.
Personality development workshop by Mr. Ajai Singh from Mumbai who is leading trainer in India.
Workshop on change management conducted by Prof. S.K.Singh from FMS, BHU, Varanasi.
Workshop on TQM.

Workshop on Entrepreneurship Development by Mr. Sunil Shukla, Professor, EDI, Ahmedabad.
Launching of gumbatrades.com. In 2004 the department launched its website www.gumbatrades.com

Industry Interface
To keep abreast of the latest changes in the industrial world, a professional institute should have a close linkage with the real business world. Therefore, the department of business Administration took a number of steps to strengthen the interaction with business and industry. In this regard the following Industry specialist viz. Mr. Abhay Srivastava, Consultant, Century Ply boards (I) Ltd., Ahemedabad; Mr. A.N.Jha, Regional Manager, Cipla Ltd.; Mr. Jitesh Tiwari, U.P. In charge, Century Ply boards (I) Ltd.; Mr. M.Malik, G.M., Peerless General Finance and InInfrastructure.
