in Gorakhpur University
National Social Scheme in Gorakhpur University
was started in 1969 under the Head Ship of Captain P.B. Verma. Since then the
participation of the students in their scheme is gradually increasing and increasing
in number of the units of National Volunteers is apparent.
THE
FOLLOWING ARE THE CHIEF AIM OF N.S.S.
To gain through knowledge
of the society, develop the incidity of social responsibilities, to develop necessary
skill for collective life, to gain skill in participation the society, to develop
the quality of leadership for establishing democratic value, to adopt the concept
of national integration in its real meaning, and to pave the way to face the odds
of natural calamities and emergency according to the need of the situation, since
1969 up to date Capt. P.B. Verma, Dr. Birij Kishore Singh, Dr. Shail Nath Chaturvedi,
Dr. Om Shanker Srivastava, Dr. Prabhakar Pandey, Dr. Sri Narain Chaturvedi, Dr.
Smt. Karuna Sibhou, Dr. Ashok Srivastava, Dr. Amresh Chandra Shukla have lent
their services as the coordination. At present Dr. Awdesh Pratap Shukla is working
on a coordinator.
At present 9 units of the volunteers are active in the
university, which are making successful efforts through organizing special camps
and programmes from time to time to spread education in society, to awaken the
people for the preservation of environment and health and to perform other social
works.
