in Gorakhpur University
National Cadet Corps is an institution
that inculcates in the educated youths the quality of leadership as well as that
of unity and discipline established in 1948, its importance is growing day by
day. Discipline loving people trained by N.C.C. are performing their duties dexterously
and gloriously in various fields and are making significant contribution to National
Integration.
In 44 U.P. Battalion N.C.C. of Gorakhpur Group associated
with the university there are 254 cadets in its infantry and 30 cadets in Navy
who are being trained. The officers are Lt. Dr. O.P. Pandey and Second Lt. Dr.
Digvijai Maurya. With the efforts of Prof. Rewati Raman Pandey the Ex - Vice -
Chancellor of the university and with the cooperation of Col. A.K.R. Tripathi
Sena Medal, group commander, Gorakhpur, The lady wing of N.C.C. came into existence
after a long awaited period, in which 54 girl cadets of the university are being
trained. Dr. Vineeta Pathak is its care-taker.
Mental intellectual and
physical ability groups in the personal life of the students by N.C.C. trough
preference is given to them in the field of education and job. They become well
disciplined in life. The best N.C.C. cadets take part in various social work viz.
to awaken the people for population control, to make the people aware of epidemics
and also to help them in treatment of diseases.
To help the people on the
occasion of physical and natural calamities, to preserve the environment, to ensure
internal and external security and the security of the civilians besides they
move from social centre to centre in the procession against Dowry System, Child
Marriage. They also write slogans against smoking, and about ADE Control. They
also take part in the Plus Polio Abhiyan they take children to polio booth and
get them drink the polio drop, they also take part in flood relief work, blood
donation, eye-donation and plantation etc.
This year university cadets
had many achievements owing to training and education they received in the peaceful
disciplined environment of the university campus. The cadets enhanced the glory
of the university by Winning 20 Gold Medals, 2 Shields and a Cash Prize in The
Cadets' Annual Training Camp. In this session of Km. Garima Singh a girl cadet
of university was selected to go to Bhutan to take part in the youth exchange
program, Dilip Kumar Singh a male cadet of the university was selected to take
part in the national camp in Andman-Nicobar Island, Sudhakar Yadav, Anup Kumar
Pandey and Abhai Singh, the three cadets of the university were selected to take
part in the republic day parade in the Delhi Rajpath on the 26th January 2004.
Omkar Nath Pandey a cadet of the university was chosen this year for national
infantry camp. Sachidanad Yadav was chosen the best cadet in infantry army and
Suraj Prakash Maurya in Navy by Rana Pratap Education Society.
This year
20 university cadets being attached with 9 Maratha Regiment Firozabad, got training
under the leadership of Lt. Dr. Digvijai Nath Maurya in various branches of military
science. This is the greatest achievement of the university N.C.C that N.C.C cadets
Anand Tondon, and Abhinav Prakash were selected army officer to serve the national
and nearly a dozen cadets were selected for other posts in the army.
University
cadets have been cooperating with many constructive activities and have left their
indelible imprint by being selected in other activities as games, sports, youth
festival, moot court, youth parliament, kavya sandhya, etc. It is notable a greater
number of students gets N.C.C. training in this university than that of any other
university of the sate. If they are given more facilities and provided with greater
resource, undoubtedly they will prove very useful to the nation, society, the
university and also to themselves.
Chief Aims
of N.C.C
* To inculcate in the youths of the country the secure
of character, mutual intercourse, discipline, leadership, secularism, thrill and
selfless service.
* To prepare a human resource of organized, trained and
inspired youths, to give leadership in every field of life, and make them ever
ready for the service of the country.
* To create proper environment to
enable the youth have a career in the army.
