Rising number of 'Entrepreneurs'
and their innovative 'Enterprises' are making many a developmental dreams come
true for developing countries. Like China, for similar reasons, we too find our
big hopes tugged around Small Scale Industries. But how to motivate for entrepreneurship
and self-employment where the wish for a trivial, salaried job is everything in
life? With a feasible answer in mind, D D U Gorakhpur University is going to start
with the support of Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), Ahmedabad
and the Ministry of SSI, Government of India, an "Entrepreneurship and Business
Development Centre (EBDC)" with aims as high as inculcating an "Entrepreneurial
Culture" by sensitizing youths for entrepreneurship through intensive training
and guidance in the backward region of eastern UP.

Rising
number of 'Entrepreneurs' and their innovative 'Enterprises' are making many a
developmental dreams come true for less developed countries around the world.
Like China, for similar reasons, we too find our big hopes tugged around "Self
Employment" and "Small Scale Industries". But how to motivate for
entrepreneurship and self-employment in a backward regions like eastern Uttar
Pradesh where a trivial, salaried job is considered everything in life? With a
feasible answer in mind, D D U Gorakhpur University is going to start with the
support of Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), Ahmedabad and
the Ministry of SSI, Government of India, an "Entrepreneurship and Business
Development Centre (EBDC)" with aims as high as inculcating an "Entrepreneurial
Culture" by sensitizing youths for entrepreneurship and self employment through
intensive training, technical guidance, effective mediation and case-to-case follow
up.
(I) Action Plan as per the requirement of
the MoSSI
1. The Entrepreneurship and Business Development Centre,
DDU Gorakhpur University, here onward referred as EBDC - will organize a minimum
of 10 Entrepreneurship Awareness/Orientation / Thematic Program in the financial
/ academic year 2006. Each of these will be of 2 weeks duration comprising at
least 30 participants.
2. Two Entrepreneurship Development Programs (EDPs)
will be organized during the year 2006; each of at least 240 hours covering minimum
25 participants in each of the EDP.
3. The EBDC will initiate the process
of establishing a network /link with different agencies of the Government of India,
State Governments and other agencies which are involved in promotion and development
of small industries in the region.
4. For Awareness Programs, each student
will be charged a nominal/ token fee of Rs 600 and for EDPs each student will
be charged a nominal/token fee of Rs 1500. The admission forms will be sold for
Rs 10 each. If response is not dull for first few programs, it will continue
for the rest.
5. The EBDC will finalize the Action Plan and Syllabus
for the two Diploma Programs (both of one year duration) as per the university
rules and to be started from the next year 2007-08.

6. This
will be a step taken to lead the centre toward self-sufficiency and integrating
the centre with the regulatory system of this university.
7. This centre
will organize at least two lectures and one seminar on "Entrepreneurship
Development", both comprising people from the industry, NGOs and academia,
during the financial year 2006-07. This will, thus, also aim at facilitating linkage
with academia, industry and NGOs for promotion of entrepreneurship in eastern
UP.
