Under-graduate
Courses (Under self-finance scheme):
B.A. (as one subject) and B.Sc.
(Home Science)-equivalent to three subject of the faculty which comprises 9 theory
papers and 3 practical. Candidates are admitted through entrance test. Annual
fee Rs 6000.00.
Post-graduate Courses (Under self-finance
scheme):
Admission in the following PG course will be through entrance
test. Minimum eligibility is B.Sc. (Home Science) either three or four year degree
course. Candidates are admitted through entrance test. Five seats are available
in each course. Fees structures are as per university rules.
(a) M.Sc.
(Food & Nutrition):
The discipline has a key role in all aspects of
health promotion, preventive and curative. The course enables students to become
food service manager, dieticians, health inspectors, scientists etc.
(b)
M.Sc. (Resource Management):
It focuses on planned and integrated resource
management in community development through the introduction with the environment.
The ergonomic, consumer, interior decorator and entrepreneurship approaches enable
the student to shape there careers as scientists, interior decorators, managers,
consultants, agronomists, NGO workers etc.
(c) M.Sc. (Human Development
and Family Studies):
The course encompasses the areas of human development,
early childhood education, family and children welfare, special education etc.
This all enables the students to take up careers as consultants in schools, to
provide child care service, to work in schemes of UNICEFF and WHO, to work with
NGO's etc.
(d) M.Sc. (Clothing Textiles):
The course emphasizes
on fabric formation, designing, garments making, dyes extraction etc. The opportunities
are immanence as dress designers, scientists, garment manufacturers, merchandisers
etc.
(e) M.Sc. (Extension Education):
The course lays emphasis
on development of rural community and urban slums through a process of extensive
educational approach. The focus is more on development of projects that will have
an impact on lives of poor and the un reached in the society. The career opportunities
are immense as project coordinators of UNESCO, WHO, as social workers, extension
workers, field workers, development officers in projects and government sectors
etc.
