The Law Faculty of the D.D.U. Gorakhpur
University is present in the third millennium with its special identity as a leading
centre for law education in India. Sri. Mishra become the founder Head of the
department, and law education was started in the residential section of the university.
Keeping in view of the growing demand of admission in law classes during the seventh
decade, affiliation to Sant Vinoba Degree College Deoria, A.P.N. Degree College
Basti, Kamla Nehru Institute Sultanpur and M.B.S. Degree College Gangapur etc.
with the jurisdiction of Awadh University Faizabad College and Purvanchal University
Jaunpur, were affiliated to the university at present. Three colleges St. Andrews
College, Gorakhpur, A.P.N. Degree College Basti and Sant Vinoba Degree College
Deoria, are affiliated with the Law Faculty of the university.
Till now
Prof. R.B. Tiwari, Sri Balram Singh Baghil, Prof. Udairaj Rai, Prof. Om Prakash
Tiwari, Prof. Anirudh Prasad and Prof. Naresh Prasad Chaudhary graced the chair
of the Department. At present Prof. Girija Shankar Tiwari is the Head of the Department.
From 1968-69 on wards semseter system has been successfully executed according
to the directives of the Bar Council.
