Department of Fine Arts and Music was
started in 1958. It was for the first time guided and directed by the reputed
artist Sri. Jitendra Kumar. Afterwards Dr. Dwarika Prasad Shukla, specialist in
wash technique became its Head. On August 19, 1972. After his retirement on June
30, 1983, Prof. Rajeshwar became its head. Since February 15, 2003, Dr. Manoj
Kumar Singh a famous Wall Artist has been electing the chair. The contribution
of Dr. K.N. Mathur, Late Sri. Mahendra Singh, Sri. Surendra Mohan Mishra, Smt.
Karuna Sibou, Sri. R.N.M. Tripathi, Prof. Shatruhan Shukla etc in elevating the
academic, artistic and constructive standard of the report, had been of great
importance.
Tuitional work at graduate level has been carried on since
1958. But tuitional work at Post graduate level in art and in practical art was
started in 1981 and 1998 respectively. 22 scholars have been awarded Ph.D. Degree
in this subject up till now and 09 are engaged in research work. Many students
of this department have done remarkable work in many institutions and cities of
the country in the field of journalism, creative art, textile designing, cartooning,
fashion designing, advertising agency, art direction (film) theatre, set designing,
letter designing etc. and have been rewarded. The participation of the students
in exhibitions at regional, state and all India level.
