‘Entrepreneurs’ and their innovative ‘Enterprises’ are making many developmental dreams come true for less developed countries. Like China, for similar reasons, we too find our big hopes tugged around “Self Employment” and “Small Scale Industries”. But how to motivatefor entrepreneurship and self-employment in a backward region like eastern UP where a trivial, salaried job is considered everything in life? With a feasible answer in mind fortified with the support of Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), Ahmedabad and the Ministry of SSI, GoI, D D U Gorakhpur University has started an “Entrepreneurship and Business Development Centre (EBDC)” with aims as high as inculcating an “Entrepreneurial Culture” by sensitizing youths for entrepreneurship and self employment through intensive and gradual training, technical guidance, effective mediation and case-to-case follow up even after completion of the course. The proposed course, in fact, is another step in this direction along with our students.

“Entrepreneurship Awareness Program (EAP)” with any particular theme every time― is started by us in the first week of every month. It is quite relevant and designed in tune with the course contents and career prospects of our students in the respective program. We have organized the same in past in other university departments and degree colleges and have had encouraging feedback. The program requires 135 minutes divided in two lectures with a tea break, every day for two weeks; starting in the after noon or as per the convenience of the participants. It is organized by us in degree colleges and other universities as well when requested by competent authorities there.
A maximum of sixty incumbents who join voluntarily after paying a token fee of Rs 310 each are awarded, after successful completion of the program, a certificate under the joint auspices of the Ministry and our University. This certificate is supposed to carry an added preference from funding agencies and Government schemes started from time to time for new entrepreneurs.

Please find enclosed a program schedule, Online Application form and other details related to various activities of EBDC.
