The existing programmes of teaching at
post-graduate level are in full conformity with the recommendation of UGC committee
on Defence/ Strategic Studies. Major emphasis is on the following theory and practice
of war; National security; Conflict resolution and international relations; evolution
of modern warfare (India and Western); Problems of war and peace with reference
to region and global arms control and disarmament; Defence economics: science,
technology and national security; Defence psychology; Area studies and national
security; armed forces and society; International Humanitarian Law (IHL) and conflict
among nations; and dissertation (on the problems of national and international
security and area studies).
The department, in addition to UG and PG classes,
also runs a Post-Graduate Diploma in Disaster and National Security Management
w.e.f. 2004-2005.
Post-Graduate Diploma in Disaster
and National Security Management:
It is a self-financing programme
and covers a wide spectrum of natural and man-made disasters and their mitigation
along with strategic thinking and national security management of the country.
It is a job-oriented and full-time one-year programme. Candidates having degree
of B.A./B.Sc./B.Com./LL.B. of any recognized university or any equivalent degree
of a foreign university/institution are eligible for admission. Also, the candidates
who satisfy the following conditions are eligible:
(1) Candidates who sponsored
for admission to the above course by the Government, Institution or Public bodies
or private concerns.
(2) Foreign Students/NRIs who are permitted by the University
for Admission to the above course as per rules.
Being a self-financed professional
diploma course, the students of this course will be advised not to participate
in Union activities. The numbers of seats are 50. In addition to the university
fees, the candidate have to pay Rs. 5000/- at the time of admission in one installment.
