The department has a well-thought out
plan of action for coming years both in the area of teaching and research. In
teaching our objective is to improve the quality of under graduate and post graduate
students which we produce every year. In order to achieve it, the department has
planned to upgrade all its teaching laboratories. Department of Science and Technology,
Govt. Of India, New Delhi in its FIST Programme to the department has allocated
Rs. 5.0 lac for the upgradation of the teaching laboratories. The department has
planned to improve the general facilities available for practical works in all
teaching laboratories and to update the M.Sc. Final Inorganic Chemistry laboratory.
Inorganic Synthetic Lab, the M.Sc. Final Organic Chemistry Lab into an up-to-date
Synthetic Organic Lab and the M.Sc. Final Physical Lab as an up-to-date Instrumental
Lab which will be used by M.Sc. (Prev.) and B.Sc. Final students also in addition
to M.Sc. Final students. The UGC, New Delhi, in its 10th plan has allocated Rs.
8.00 lac for equipments, part of which will be utilized for the equipments required
for teaching.
It is proposed to modify our M.Sc. (Prev.) Chemistry courses
to suit more for UGC-CSIR NET Examination by incorporating a few more topics.
In M.Sc. Final, all students will have to do a short research project under the
supervision of a teacher of the department and will have to submit the project
report as part of their practical examination.
The department has got Rs.
5.0 lac from DST in its FIST programme and Rs. 2.0 lack from UGC in its 10th plan
for the improvement of the library and enrich it with standard text books of international
level.
The department has also got Rs. 10.00 lac by DST in its FIST programme
for computer networking. The work has been completed.
