The Department brought out two anthologies
- one of poems published by O.U.P. and the other of essays published by Macmillan,
India in 2003-2004.
The teachers of the Department are actively engaged
in guiding research. The department has produced more than fifty Ph.D. Eight under
the supervision of Prof. S. P. Mishra, six under Prof. N. Srivastava, four under
Prof. J. P. Tripathi, five under Prof. S. C. Bose, seven under Prof. G. Rai, seven
under Prof. A. E. Myles, five under Prof. N. S. Sahu, three under Prof. V. Solanki,
five under Dr. (Mrs.) Anita Myles, Four theses have been submitted for evaluation
- one under Prof. S. C. Bose, two under Prof. G. Rai and one under Prof. (Mrs.)
V. Solanki. Researches have been carried out mostly in the field of Twentieth
Century Literature - British, American and Indian.
The Department has two
cultural associations - one for the teachers and research scholars and the other
for the students of the P. G. classes. The teachers and the research scholars
of the Department present research papers from time to time. English Study Circle
functions under the guidance of the teachers of the Department. It organizes lectures,
Debates, Essay Writing Competition and Literary Quiz for the students every year.
We arranged a film show this year - Shakespeare’s ‘The Tempest’
along with usual competitions debate, Essay writing and Literary Quiz. Winners
have been given away prizes and Certificates at the annual function.
